Round walk from Jezus-Eik to Tervuren through the Sonian Forest and the Tervuren Arboretum.
THE ARBORETUM OF TERVUREN is located on the edge of the Sonian Forest (East of Brussels), in the municipality of Tervuren and the municipality of Jezus-Eik (Overijse). The arboretum covers an area of approximately 100 hectares and was established in 1902 under the direction of Professor Charles Bommer at the request of King Leopold II.
It was planted with over 460 different species of trees originating from various forest landscapes, mainly from the Northern Hemisphere. There are forests from the New World (North America and South America) and from the Old World (Europe and Asia). The arboretum offers many opportunities for walks. The absolute highlights are the American Sequoias (giant trees) and Araucarias (monkey puzzle trees).
