Schore

Endless polders define the landscape of the IJzervlakte between Diksmuide and Nieuwpoort. The absence of any buildings from this time indicates that the area was not so peaceful during World War I. In Tervaete, the Germans occupied a forward post on the left bank of the IJzer for four years. Thanks to the low traffic, the many asphalt roads, and the gravel on an old railway line, this walk is excellent for buggies and wheelchairs.
DEPARTURE LOCATION
You can reach the IJzer Bridge in Schore by taking exit 4-Middelkerke on the E40. Drive along the N325 towards Diksmuide until you reach Sint-Pieters-Kapelle, where you turn right onto the N367 towards Nieuwpoort. Shortly thereafter, turn left onto the N302. From Schore to just past the last intersection, it is still 3 km.
PARKING
Parking lot at the café behind the IJzer Bridge.
TYPE OF PATH
Quiet rural asphalt and gravel paths, grassy paths in the Viconia clay pits.
ACCESSIBILITY
Possible for buggies and accompanied wheelchairs on the short route with two variants; dogs must be leashed in the Viconia clay pits.
