Following Breughel in the undulating and green Land of Gaasbeek

Sint-Gertrudis-Pede is the starting point for a picturesque journey through a rolling patchwork just a stone's throw from Brussels: the Pajottenland.

In addition to the white-red of the GR 512, we also make use of the walking network Pajottenland and a mix of Slow Paths grassy trails (sometimes up to knee-high grass), field paths with many flowers and blackberries (unfortunately: ripe only in August), sometimes a shady hollow path, leafy forest trails, here and there also a crooked cobblestone, crossing small muddy streams, boardwalks, and … never a calf biter.

There are also majestic views of the gently rolling landscape, the 'skyline' of Brussels with its apartment buildings, the basilica of Koekelberg … In some places, you may notice large cherry trees. We are walking in the land of the sour cherry beers. The church towers of Sint-Martens-Lennik and Sint-Kwintens-Lennik (with the 'spire tower') appear in the distance, as does the TV transmission mast of the further south located Sint-Pieters-Leeuw.
