This hiking route is one of our absolute favorites! In one day you wander through two of the most beautiful spoil tips in Flanders, you can admire the beautifully restored mine seats of Winterslag and Waterschei, enjoy the exotic Vennestraat, and walk through typical Limburg biotopes like the Opglabbekerzavel.
Good hiking shoes are necessary, as the paths on the spoil tips can be a bit slippery in wet weather.
This hiking route starts at the Genk station and ends at the mine cathedral of Zwartberg (bus stop Cockerillplaats) from where you have four buses an hour to Genk station (two on weekends).
