This trail is drawn from Weerde (Crossroads Klokputweg-Vredelaan) and runs mainly along (rural unpaved) paths on the western side of the Senne through the Hombeek and Leestse fields, up to the Senne in Heffen. She then returned to Weerde, mainly on the eastern side of the Senne.
'Rural and flat' with very beautiful rural views are the main features of this loop. It is also inevitable along the Zennewater and some lakes (Visput Weerde, Eglegemvijver Hombeek, Zuurbemdje above Stuivenberg, Robbroek).
West of the Senne, four slow roads are used that run just past or through private property. See the POIs. The owners have been asked if they allow runners and walkers on these slow roads, and that's OK. Special thanks to all!
On this western part there are only strips where farmers do not remove their plows or seeders from the ground to save these slow roads. Depending on the period where you pass it, the net may have been plowed or you will walk between high-quality harvests. Every season its specialty...
East of the Senne there are two paths that are not trivial:
1. At the end of the Robbroek (against the Stuivenberg district), turn left to the soggy sourbemdje. Keep following the northeastern stream on your right (you have to go through a number of bushes and also via branches over two canals). At a certain moment you notice a (old?) football square Sylvester where you can go over a wooden bridge over a stream. However, keep following this stream and a little north you will pass two forest ponds until you come to a parallel path in a southerly direction along the 19. You then follow them south. This part along Zuurbemdje is very beautiful, but it is an unmaintained path (bending over for branches, a few thorns, look out).
2. In Weerde you go along a forest path just east of the railway line 27 (Weerde Mechelen) to the Senne where you follow the left bank upstream. This Senne crosses under the E19 and you have to continue following the E19 there. Continue to follow the E19 for a few more 100 meters (not maintained path), cross along the E19 behind the guardrails under the railway line 27B (Weerde Hofstade) and continue to follow the E19 behind the verzalembeek until you come back to the Senne (which ends from the left under the E19). There you follow the Senne on the right to the fish pit (beware, you have to go between the Senne and a wooden bareel), and back on the right to the north parking of the fish pit and the railway line.
Both trails are soggy in the wet season, and quite surprising throughout the year. A trail runner or nature hiker will really like these pieces!
If you want to expand this trail a bit more, you can add this trail in Heffen: https://www.routeyou.com/nl/route/view/811545/wandelroute-sven-s-favoriete-13mi-trail.nl .
You then have a flat trail of 33 Miles (54km), of which 20Mi mainly on field roads and 13Mi mainly along forest paths.
