The walk runs within the 'Green Pool Vinderhoutse Bossen' between the access portals 'De Campagne' and 'Het Leeuwenhof'. The Green Pool Vinderhoutse Bossen is to become one of the five green pools on the outskirts of Ghent, a large recreational and nature area at the transition from city to countryside.

The walk starts and ends at Landgoed de Campagne. After passing the entrance and the information board on the right, you go right in (follow the brown cross trail marking until you reach Rijkegasthuisbos). Follow the path through the park. At the back, you follow the path to the left until you reach the stream; in the far right corner, you will find the bridge over the Lieve. Cross over that and directly turn left. After 70 m, you turn right. When you reach the asphalt road Heiebreestraat, you follow it to the right. After 400 m on the asphalt road and past the high-voltage line, you turn left into the slow road Rijkegasthuisbos. You follow the gravel road Rijkegasthuisbos until you reach the intersection between two residential areas (here follow the yellow ball trail marking). Turn right and follow the gravel road Rijkegasthuisbos until you reach the busy road Bosstraat. Follow Bosstraat to the right for about 70 m, cross the road and take a field path leading towards the forest. At the intersection of paths, take the left path with the high-voltage line (from here follow the red square trail marking). We will now make a loop of 4.3 km through the nature area of the old core forest and follow the publicly accessible path. Attention, after 900 meters with the stream on your left side, turn right into the forest, entering the wide path between the tall poplars (always red square). About 100 meters past the bridge, you will turn left into the avenue. On the asphalt road at R4, you turn right and after 350 m turn right into the beech avenue. At the end of the avenue, turn left and further on left over the wooden bridge, go through the forest and then on the grassy field along the edge of the pond and past the buildings to the entrance of Beekstraat. Turn right into Beekstraat and just past the parking lot, you take the field path on the right. Where the path becomes a wide grassy field at the edge of the old forest, turn left until the end of the forest edge. Attention, here turn right through the meadow and then immediately turn right via the passage over the ditch into the old forest and continue until you return to the high-voltage line (end of the loop marked with a red square).

A part of the route is now the same as going on, but in reverse direction. You turn left until you reach the busy road, Bosstraat, then 70 m to the right, cross and follow the gravel road Rijkegasthuisbos until the two houses. Past the first house, you go straight ahead (follow the brown cross trail marking), past the second house you turn right, shortly after turn left along a wood edge with sweet chestnut. At the next fork, you turn left. You pass by the house 'Begijnenboshoeve'. At the asphalt road, Heiebreestraat, you cross and walk back to the bridge of De Campagne. Cross the bridge, and now right along the stream for the last bit to Landgoed de Campagne.
