Lembeek-Kasteelbrakel: natural gems on both sides of the language border

A piece of unadulterated natural beauty to the southwest of it and somewhat to the east of the Zenne. The walk is like a string to which green jewels are strung: Lembeek Forest, Bois de Bailli, Hallerbos, nature reserves Bruyère Mathias, De Grote Zenne, Maasdalbos …
Braine-le-Château, with its historical heritage, is the most captivating village.

During the hike, we pass through a picturesque rolling landscape of meadows, fields, occasionally a chapel, charming little valleys, but very often larger and smaller deciduous forests. We cross this beech landscape on ‘slow roads’ of grass, gravel, cobblestone, tile, clay … rarely flat but also rarely calf-biting … surprisingly many forest or forest edge paths. In April/May, they are colored blue (bluebell) and white (wood anemone and wild garlic).

Since 1995, there has also been a provincial border: Flemish and Walloon Brabant can only be noticed by the street name signs and Lembeek (Lembeck) and Braine-le-Château (Kasteelbrakel).
