Along the pillory in the Kampveldbos and Nieuwenhovenbos Oostkamp

Start at the Kampveld parking lot in the water street. There is also parking at the Hertenstraat in the Nieuwenhove forest (about halfway through the walk).

A surprising amount of greenery and forest, even in the Nieuwenhove residential area.

The pillory can be seen in the distance at junction 49 that we pass twice: on the closed access road to the forest you can see the pillory further on (50 meters?). This used to be private land but has now been purchased by the agency nature and forest. Perhaps they will open it up... You can go there at the separation of forest and field: first there is barbed wire, but otherwise it is no longer there...

In the early 1920s, this area was embellished with wood carvings, play forests, a dog walking meadow and even allotments.

During 20 years, meadows were transformed into forests, making this area very suitable for walking.
