Nederhasselt has already been mentioned in the 11th century as Hasloth or Haslath (= group of hazel trees) and as early as 1166, there was talk of Hasselt. Neder- was added around 1300 to distinguish it from a neighboring Hasloth, now Ophasselt. It determines the location of both villages in the valley of the Molenbeek. Do not confuse with Hasluth, also Hasselt but here the provincial capital of Limburg. A walk along paved and unpaved paths, a large part of the slow roads walk 'via tooveressehol' and a couple of marshy spots with springs in a hilly landscape. Parking and departure at a spacious parking area on Nederhasseltstraat (gps at house number 227) at the church of Nederhasselt. One starts already over the domain of the church, keep to the right side of the church until the back and exit the domain via a gate along a paved path.
