Edelare, better known for its 'Edelareberg' in many cycling classics as well as the 'Ladeuze' with a maximum gradient of 15%. We tackle the Ladeuze via the unpaved Ladeuzepad and enjoy the views from above before heading towards the Eikenberg. We also pass the pilgrimage site of Kerselare, which originated around the 15th century due to a miraculous healing attributed to a statue of Mary that was hung on a cherry tree. Out of gratitude, the family had a chapel built at that location. The chapel was destroyed by a fire in 1961 and replaced by a new 'modern' chapel. Parking and departing at the Hoge Weg is simply a bit safer than at the church of Edelare with its narrow parking strip along the N8.
