Hoeilaart Clean Oak Walk (RCOZ)

Theme: Walk in the Sonian Forest. Duration +/- 2.30 hours

Departure and arrival: Kasteel van Groenendaal, Duboislaan 1, 1560 Hoeilaart.

Parking: At Groenendaal Castle

This is a walk designed or adapted by the Rotary Club Overijse-Zoniën (RCOZ) as part of the action "Walking and cycling for more greenery and nature in the Druivenstreek". This promotion runs from 21 March 2021 to 5 June 2021 (World Environment Day). The aim of the action is above all to reflect on the importance of greenery and nature in the Druivenstreek and to raise awareness about it. Specifically, RCOZ wants to use this campaign to raise funds for other sustainable trees in the Druivenstreek. Information about the action and participation in the walks can be www.rcoz.be. The walk starts from the Groenendaal Castle car park and runs along the ponds to the Preumontpad to the end of the forest on the Waterloosesteenweg. Then we return along beautiful old oaks to Sint-Corneliusdreef to the old Groenendaal racecourse and so on to Groenendaal Castle.

This walk is based on the Clean Oak Walk of the Agency for Nature and Forest (ANB), but shortened and with a different ending along the racecourse.

A shorter route is possible by entering the Palisadepad on the left from the Preumontpad and via the Keteldellepad to St. Crain's Reef, then following the route further to the left. This shorter route is a walk of +/- 5 kilometers.
