Overijse Nellebeek walk (RCOZ)

Theme: Natural connections between the Sonian Forest and the Ice Valley: Duration +/- 1.5 hours.

Start/finish: Duisburgsesteenweg, 3090 Overijse (Eizer), Belgium.

Parking: In the center of Eizer on the Duisburgsesteenweg near the church

This is a walk designed or adapted by the Rotary Club Overijse-Zoniën (RCOZ) as part of the action "Walking and cycling for more greenery and nature in the Druivenstreek". This promotion runs from 21 March 2021 to 5 June 2021 (World Environment Day). The aim of the action is above all to reflect on the importance of greenery and nature in the Druivenstreek and to raise awareness about it. Specifically, RCOZ wants to use this campaign to raise funds for other sustainable trees in the Druivenstreek. Information about the action and participation in the walks can be www.rcoz.be.

The walk starts in the center of Eizer but soon we walk through a beautiful road along the Nellebeek towards Marnixbos. From Marnixbos, the road continues to Koningsbos through a still relatively open space. After the Koningsbos, we pass in front of us return to Eizer and again along the Nellebeek. The Nellebeek rises in the Marnixbos and enters the IJse near the IJsenbroeken. The Nellebeek forms an important link between the Sonian Forest and the Meerdaal Forest via the IJsevallei.

A shorter route is to take the Groenweg at junction 319 to exit 320 and continue the walk. This route is +/- 5 km.
