Along quiet polder paths, former church roads, and centuries-old dikes, you discover the vast polders and nature surrounding Meerdonk. You will also get to know the beauty of the nature reserves the Grote Geule and the Panneweel.

Directions

You start at the church of Meerdonk in Meerdonkdorpstraat. From the parking lot, head right toward the polders (toward walking junction 94). You enter Dijkstraat with the sculpture “The Inside of Things” by Pastor Gilleit van Berskens on the left and a small chapel for St. Cornelius on the right. Continue walking toward walking junction 94 along the beautiful dike lined with poplars and native trees. At walking junction 94, turn right (at Reynaert sign) onto Kijkverdrietstraat heading toward walking junction 86. At walking junction 86, turn left toward walking junction 84. At walking junction 84, cross the dike (which can be muddy sometimes) toward walking junction 87. Walk from walking junction 87 to walking junction 88, where you might enjoy an ice cream at Ijssalon De Boey. From walking junction 88, turn left toward walking junction 92, where you will see the sculpture De Vossen on your left, winner of Radio 2's “Thuis voor een beeld” by Caroline Coolen. Here, turn right onto Krekeldijk.

Follow this dike where you will see the nature reserve the Grote Geule on your right as you travel from walking junction 92 to walking junction 95. During this section, you will pass Natuurhuis/Nature Reserve het Panneweel. Via Lagestraat, you will arrive at walking junction 95, where you turn left onto a cobblestone path and then a narrow church path to walking junction 94. Here you will reach tavern Den Ouden Hof, where you can get a drink.

At walking junction 94, turn right back toward the church of Meerdonk and the walk concludes. We hope you enjoyed the many beautiful aspects of the municipality of Meerdonk.
