In search of our waterways ...

Starting from the city, this tour takes you along the Neerpedebeek, in the last major agricultural area of Brussels. After crossing two urban parks, you will evolve in a countryside landscape with groves, pastures, fields and farms, but also reed beds and nature reserves. Gateway to the so-called Pajottenland region, the Pede valley is now the subject of dynamic reclamation projects, whether in terms of landscape, agriculture, biodiversity or the quality of the water of its river.
Good discovery!

Both the Brussels Region and the municipality of Anderlecht are committed to preserving the identity of this exceptional green space. The challenge is to succeed in combining the enhancement of agricultural activity, the maintenance of quality landscapes, the development of biodiversity and the reception of the public for leisure activities. Various actors in the field are already contributing to this!

- The municipality of Anderlecht is manager of the Parc des Etangs and owner of the two nature reserves managed by Natagora and Natuurpunt. Along the
In front of the Heymans farm, it will set up an observation platform and a rest area. The Tourist Service of the municipality ensures to highlight the natural heritage of Anderlecht. www.anderlecht.be

- Brussels Environment is responsible for flow control and
water quality of the Neerpedebeek (and tributaries), and carries out maintenance work on its bed and banks. The administration is also responsible for the Pede pond, with particular attention to its ecological quality. www.environnement.brussels

- La Maison verte et bleue is a non-profit organisation active in education on biodiversity and sustainable food. In Neerpede, it offers activities for various audiences, in a natural garden and a vegetable garden of agroecological and participatory production, the Champ à Mailles.
