Walking in the National Park: TerHills, Mechelse Heide and Tuinwijk Eisden

* Due to the construction of the Terhills Resort bungalow park on the north bank of the Grote Plas, you can no longer pass through there. Therefore, we designed a route along the south bank. In the near future, a pedestrian bridge will be built over the Grote Plas, connecting the Lange Terril to the Tweelingterrils. Once that is completed, we will modify this route again. *

On this full-day hike (17 km), we traverse the most beautiful gems of the Hoge Kempen National Park: first the Eisdense terril area TerHills (the former Connecterra) with "the most beautiful panorama of Flanders," then the Lanklaarderbos nature reserve, followed by the legendary Mechelse Heide. A whole day on unpaved roads, in silence and solitude.
We will also get acquainted with the beautiful mining heritage: the Eisdense garden district with the "mine cathedral St. Barbara, the mine shafts and mining buildings of Eisden Mine, and the Coal Track Eisden-As.
