The Bulskampveld Landscape Park between Bruges and Aalter extends over more than 90 km² and is regarded as a delightful walking paradise in the heart of West Flanders. An introduction!

This Landscape Park originally owes its existence to the Provincial Domain Lippensgoed-Bulskampveld, covering 230 ha, which the province opened in Beernem in 1970. There are various access gates to this domain. We start our walk near the Aanwijs, close to the E40 (follow the direction to Wingene), which also offers a large parking area. It is a legendary place: nearby, Baron d’Udekem d’Acoz was found murdered on September 2, 1915, marking the beginning of the never truly solved murders of Beernem. Now it is much more peaceful here! At the end of the parking lot, located on the N370, you will quickly find junction number 20 of the Bulskampveld walking network, the starting point of this varied route, which leads partly through the forest and partly along beautiful residential areas with large villas.

The route

Start near the Aanwijs (V). We follow the junctions (KP), which ensure that you do not get lost in the lanes that look similar. Depart at KP 20 and follow the signpost to KP 21. Walk a bit and after alternating left (LA) or right (RA) five times, you will reach this point after 1.5 km. Here go left to 22 through a narrower lane. After about 200 m, you will reach a T-junction at KP 22. Go left and follow towards KP 29. Ignore a split, continue straight over a bridge next to the riding path, with an open space to the left. Then twist left, further until the T-junction (bench) and there right and continue straight past the plantation (to the left). You will soon leave Lippensgoed-Bulskampveld and reach a paved road (with signs for various GR routes), here is also KP 29. Now continue to KP 24, turn right. You walk through the long Kasteeldreef with many chic villas. Be careful of the traffic. You enter Hertsberge. After a while, turn left onto Sneppenweg (sign Vorsevijver), halfway down this street is KP 24. Continue straight towards 11 (300 m further, at the intersection). Now turn right towards 3 via a narrow field path next to a creek. At the end, turn right onto the asphalt and then soon left through Lemmersdreef and past B&B Heerlijkheid (1) (on the right), at the end of the lane is KP 3. (Variant: continue straight for 1.1 km to 2 and then turn right along Toekomststraat to 1). At 3, turn right to 1, continue straight along the long Kruisstraat. At 1, continue straight towards 9, then turn left through Beukendreef (the arrow is hard to see!), just before the end, turn right via Stroperijstraat. Be careful, at the bend with Waterputdreef continue straight and then at the asphalt road turn right, a bit further turn left and follow De Kruiderie, continue straight and at the end of the lane lies KP 9. Now follow for 700 m towards 4. At the end, it goes along the Bornebeek which you will soon cross past KP 4. Now towards 7 (200 m further). To the left is the beautiful castle Lippensgoed (2). Playground. At 7, turn right towards 8, which is located by a farm. Further right to 12, which you reach after walking 700 m. From here to 19 via a roundabout in the forest where you turn right. From 19 to 18 (same avenue) and then it is still 300 m to the parking lot and KP 20 (arrival).
