Discover all benefitsThis walk is situated in the Green Belt. The Green Belt embraces the world city of Brussels. In the shadow of this metropolis, dozens of beautiful parks and gardens flourish. Bruegel set up his easel here; the Brabant draft horse and lambic beer grew up here.
Leave the parking lot (1) and walk to the right until you reach St. Peter's Church (2). After a possible visit to the church, you walk next to the building to the back of the cemetery and cross the street.
Between house numbers 9 and 14, turn left onto Kastanjedreef. After about 60 meters, turn right into Colomapark (3). Just walk down the lane; on the right, you will see Colomacastle, and on the left is the Rose Museum (4). After the right-angle bend, the rose garden (5) will come into view on the left side; be sure to tempt yourself with a visit. Leave the park via the path on the left and turn right onto Sint-Sebastiaanstraat. Then cross the zebra crossing at J. Depauwstraat and follow the narrow path along the hedge. On the right, you will see the seesaws of the Sint-Sebastiaansgilde (6) rising.
Continue walking on the left verge and make a left turn further on, around the resting bench. You immediately reach a T-junction, followed by a small slalom: go right, left, and again right. Eventually, you reach Van Houchestraat, which you follow to the right for a moment. Just past house number 4, turn left onto a narrow grassy path, which leads to Mekingenweg, where you take a left. 400 meters further, before house number 83, take the right gravel path. At the subsequent fork, take the left Victor Maloustraat.
This way you walk past Hof ter Heide (7) and shortly afterwards past the VRT transmitter mast (8). Here you turn right and shortly afterwards again right to reach a T-junction. Here, turn left and after passing a farm, the road changes into a dirt road. Just keep following the path until you reach the asphalt road that brings you right into the valley of the Zuunbeek (9). Turn right and take the gravel path on the right immediately. This way you end up on Oudenakenstraat, which you follow to the right. At the fork near the chapel, continue your walk to the left along Jozef Dedobbeleerstraat. After house number 4A, turn onto the walking path that you follow until Topstraat. Turn left and shortly afterwards you will see the village church appear again.
