The Tour of Flanders is associated with cycling, of course, but not everyone has the calves, the willpower, or the suitable vehicle for that. Enthusiasts of good courses in the Flemish Ardennes can also explore a crucial part of the route on foot. There's no need to be ashamed of that. Near the Koppenberg – the dreaded hill where the peloton of the Tour usually has to dismount collectively – it’s lovely to walk, in peace, in every season and at your own pace.

VIEWPOINT

In the first part of the walk, you mostly walk on asphalt to cross the N60 a little further. At junction 81, on your way to the forest, there is a beautiful viewpoint. Stop there for a moment of rest if you can already use it. And if your legs are really not cooperating, you can shorten your route by heading straight to 79 instead of 26 at junction 80 a little further on. This way you miss the best part of the Spijkerbos, but you also cut out a full hour from your total walking time.
