Say 'Haspengouw' and you immediately think of the rolling landscape of... Limburg. But Haspengouw extends into the north of Namur. Even there, the land is fertile and life is good, as evidenced by the many castles, typical farms, and vast vineyards. A nice cycling route connects them all. The route 'Castles and Farms in the Land of Namur (31 km)' starts in Rhisnes. Take a moment to stop at the wine estates Le Chenoy (12 ha) and Le Ry d’Argent (5 ha). There, the grapes for the red and white wines ripen, with names like Pays des Jardins de Wallonie and Côtes de Sambre et Meuse. Characteristic is the 18th-century castle farm of Villers-lez-Heest. The route takes you over easy, rural paths, but a somewhat sporty bicycle is recommended.
