This walk runs along and over the grounds of the former Abbey of Boudelo. We start here at the quiet path where we immediately see the fields that were located behind the Abbey. Then we enter the nature reserve 'Fondatie van Boudelo' where we get a stunning view of the surroundings from the observation tower. In the early morning, one can easily spot a dozen deer in the fields here. We catch a glimpse of the Boudelohoeve, which was built in 1660 with bricks from the rubble of the abbey (at the end of the gravel road Heimeersstraat, just 50 meters to the left, on the right side the farm). Here at the corner, there was a café or inn 'den lesten stuyver' where pilgrims would come to drink their last cent or stuiver after making a donation to the chapel (built in 1650 as a memorial to the abbey but disappeared in 1822). Further along in the Koestaat stands the Boudelo monument at the site where the enclosure wall of the Boudelo Abbey once stood. Built in 1985 with a collection of various findings from the excavations. Parking in Boudelostraat at the corner of Kloosterstraat. Start at the left of the picnic table at Moervaart.
