Tournai and Mont-Saint-Aubert
This route starts and ends at the Tournai station. We first walk briefly through the historic city center, as Tournai is one of Belgium's richest heritage cities. The majestic Cathedral of Our Lady is a prime example of Romanesque architecture and has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2000. Almost throughout our entire walk, we will see the five equally tall towers.
We walk along the still young Scheldt and then gradually ascend Mont-Saint-Aubert. This 147-meter high hill stands alone here but is part of a chain of hills that runs from the Hilly Land to the Flemish Ardennes. From the top, you have an unparalleled view of the Scheldt valley and Tournai, and that view stays with you during the descent back to the station.
