Welcome to the Meiboomroute Wieze and surroundings

This route was developed on the occasion of the Maypole celebrations in 2021 and 2022.

Every year during the month of May there is a beautiful maypole on the Wiezeplein. The Maypole is also being erected in the hamlet of Rooien and in Herdersem
 

During the months of May and June ('21 and '22) there were/are various information boards along the course, but even outside this period the cycle route remains worthwhile.

The course partly follows the cycle junction network:

• departure on the Wiezeplein between restaurant "Oud Gemeentehuis" and the church
• A little further, at the zebra crossing, turn right.
• then left: Nieuwstraat
• diagonal-right: Streekbaan (direction "Lebbeke" and "Barry Callebaut")
• left: Aalstersestraat (direction Lebbeke)
• 1st left: Olmendreef
• end right (at Renault garage): Nieuwstraat, continue Hoogstraat.
• past "Café 't Moleken" turn right: Motteken, continue to Fonteintje
• Now follow the bicycle junction network towards "32"
• direction "37" direction "43"
• then direction "39"
• continue on the Langeroot - Langeroot becomes Rooien at the end
• on T: right (direction Lebbeke-Centrum)
• keep left (direction Rooien 94-118)
• keep left (direction Rooien 72-110, NOT to Hoeksken)
• keep left (stay on Rooien, NOT to Gehuchtveldstraat)
• on T: on the right still Rooien, but this will be Bontegem a little further
• Now follow the node network again, direction "39"
• at junction 39 turn left towards "41", please note we do NOT drive to junction 41! Weleave the cycle junction network at the END of the Tinnenhoekstraat
• end Tinnenhoekstraat right: Kruisabeelstraat
• 1st left: Hoekskenstraat, this will continue to be Klausstraat
• looking at the entrance of the Chapel of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, to the left: Pontweg
• at chapel of Saint Barbara, right: Broekstraat
• at crossroads, at chapel Our Lady of Assistance straight ahead: Kouterbaan.
• continue until the end of Kouterbaan, then right: Grote Baan
• a little further, at a kappeltje of Sint Antonius Abt, left: Alfons de Cockstraat
• continue on Alfons De Cockstraat until W.Z.C. Denderrust
• turn left: Meivisstraat
• direction "30"
• Continue towards "31"
• At junction 31 continue straight to the church: end point of this bike tour.
