Start: P&R at the tram loop Gazet Van Antwerpen.
We walk the Wandellus in a clockwise direction around the water bodies and head towards the Sint Annekes Forest. Since the start of the tunnel works, a large part of the forest has been closed and this route has been adapted to the new situation, which will take several years with extensive modifications to the surroundings.

A depoldering of 12 ha of the forest will create a permanent tidal area surrounded by a walking dike at a safe sigma height. This tidal area will attract a wide variety of bird species due to the abundant food supply and will thus play an important role for the nearby nature reserve Blokkersdijk.

The forest is accessible along the football fields, and we walk along the 'plage' at the Schelde and past the Molen van St. Anneke to the pontoon. Here we have a beautiful view over the right Schelde bank with the old docks and the entrance to the Kattendijkdok. We can also see the Eilandje with the MAS as a centerpiece and the renovation of the Scheldekaaimuren. On the way back, we also choose the natural environment. The walk is exceptional because it is 80% unpaved in an area where a lot has been built and paved in the past 50 years.

In the northern part of the festival meadow, we can imagine, with a bit of fantasy, being in the dunes by the sea.

In the sheltered forest behind the large pond, in the Rot, there has been a heron colony for more than thirty years in the tops of the tall trees. For them too, the new tidal area will be a welcome source of food.
