WEBBEKOMS BROEK WALK - exploration through nature!

The walk starts at the Sint-Trudokerk in Webbekom. 200 meters after the start, we immediately enter the Webbekoms Broek. This area mainly consists of reed beds and meadows, and is intersected by waterways the Demer, the Zwarte Beek, and the Grote Leigracht. We walk through the Webbekoms Broek to the Saspoort (3 kilometers in). Just before the Saspoort, we turn right into the forest. In this forest, we have a beautiful view over the Demer, which we also walk alongside. When we exit the forest, we cross the bridge over the Demer and then go under the Schaffense Poort. We walk 100 meters further in the Omer Vanaudenhovelaan and then turn left into a forest road. A short but steep climb brings us back to the Saspoort. Via the ramparts of Diest, we continue to the Boerenkrijgplein (4 kilometers in). At the Diest Boerenkrijgplein, behind the Petrolpoort, two impressive cannons are positioned. They are aimed at the Webbekoms Broek and the sluice complex. We walk along the ramparts for about 500 meters until we reach the recreational domain de Halve Maan. We walk along the domain until we arrive at the Lindenmolen (5 kilometers in). We walk another 500 meters until we reach the Badstraat. This road leads us from the recreational domain de Halve Maan back to the church of Webbekom, our starting point. We have covered a total of 7 kilometers.
