Train hiking route Kempen, stage 8: from Lommel to Balen

From the little station in Lommel, you immediately dive into the pine forest. In this vast Bosland, large areas have been cleared to make way for heathland. You cross the picturesque canal of Beverlo and then walk for a long time through the Keiheuvel nature reserve. In this nature area of hundreds of hectares, you walk through coniferous forests, dry open land dunes, small ponds, and heathland. You circle around the glider airfield and then reach the charming little station of Balen along a beautiful green tube.

If desired, you can also follow the walk via hiking junctions. This version differs here and there, is a bit longer (17.7 km), and somewhat less beautiful.
