GESTELPAD - walk in another century!

The walk starts in one of the most beautiful and protected village views in Belgium! There is parking in the center right next to the village square. We start our walk towards the Hof van Rameyen. Just before this Court of Rameyen we turn left, there is a lane that provides the first rest. When we come out of this lane we take a bridge that goes over the Grote Nete. Enjoy the beautiful view! We continue walking through some narrow roads through this landscape. When we cross the Itegemsesteenweg we arrive in the Cruysveld. This is a quiet forest area of the Kempense Nete valley. When we are through this area, another hiking forest awaits us, namely Kruiskensberg. According to a legend, a shepherd healed here in the 13th century after drinking from a spring. To commemorate this, a chapel and a Stations of the Cross were built. On the domain behind the chapel you will find a fen surrounded by extensive heathland and dry sand ridges. In this walking forest of about 10 ha it is pleasant to walk! You are welcome between sunrise and sunset. We cross this forest and eventually come out along the large nete. With a bridge at 'tschipke we come to the other side, then we follow the road along the nete. After 500 meters along the nete we leave it and our route is halfway. There are still some rural roads on the program that take us to Gestel. Just before we walk back into the village of Gestel we come back past the Hof van Rameyen, although viewed from a different side. After a trip of 10 km we arrive back in the village center.
