The Ravelse forests

We start at the Neo-Gothic St. Servatius church with its tower from the 16th century. Soon we leave the buildings behind us and reach the Ravelse Regional Forests (810 hectares), where a large part of the walk is situated. The forest, established in the early 20th century, consists of a mix of coniferous and deciduous trees, with ponds and heathland scattered throughout. Benches and picnic tables are spread out in the forest.

Immediately after waypoint 97, we reach Kesseven, one of the larger ponds. A bit further lies the Klotgoor, formed by peat extraction. At waypoint 87, we leave the forest and walk along quiet roads through the rural Ravels. On the way back to the starting point, we pass the mill 'De Nachtegaal der Maatvennen' from around 1869. Just before the endpoint, we discover the statue of the “Ravelse Pier,” the nickname of the residents of Ravels.
