Geraardsbergen is also the city of Manneke Pis, the oldest in Belgium. You can see all his outfits in the tourist information office, next to the beautiful town hall. This city is rich in folklore. Be sure to taste the delicious Mattetaarten and perhaps you have already heard of the "Krakelingenworp" and "Tonnekensbrand".

Geraardsbergen is geographically located on the edge of the Flemish Ardennes but has a significant hill, De Muur. Geraardsbergen is a town on the Dender and thus has a history nearly a thousand years old. During our walking route, you will come across a few old remnants such as the Driekosttoren and two very old alleys.

Priest-poet Cyriel Paul Coupé, better known by his pseudonym Anton van Wilderode, was born and raised in Moerbeke. He studied classical philology at KU Leuven and then became a teacher at the Sint-Jozef-Klein-Seminarie in Sint-Niklaas until 1982. He died in 1998.
