Immerse yourself in the rural character of the Piervenshoek, a corner of Keerbergen. The word 'hoek' was regularly used in Middle Dutch for a remote, forgotten place: so a corner. The Piervenshoek walk is a 6-kilometer route. Enjoy along the banks of the meandering Dijle, admire the centuries-old Kruishoeve, and get acquainted with the Hansbrug. This cast-iron bridge dates back to the 19th century and has been protected since 1988. The walk also takes you past a bunker that is part of the anti-tank ditch. The anti-tank ditch is part of the KW position, an 80 km long defensive line between Koningshooikt and Waver that was built just before World War II to protect Belgium from a German invasion.
