Cycling gives A wings

With ‘Cycling gives A wings’ we cycle through streets named after remarkable ladies and past female street art. In Antwerp, men still pedal more kilometers than women. zij-kant wants more women on their steel horses, and a city tailored for the cycling sinjoras. With this bike ride, we aim to inspire women (and men, of course) to conquer the city by bike.

The route takes us past memories of a glorious past to the new breeze blowing through the canal zone: we start in front of the majestic Central Station at the Queen Astrid Square, dive into the Jeanne Brabant tunnel, and then cycle via Park Spoor Noord to the Albert Canal. There, we discover socially engaged street art that brightens up the industrial neighborhood and pause at a tribute to Julie Van Espen. We arrive in the greenery, in front of a new mural in Bischoppenhofpark.

This mural was created by artist Napam for zij-kant. She painted a drab electricity cabin and the wall of preschool De Groene Egel. With the bike, you conquer the world, her drawing tells the children of the neighborhood. More info: www.zij-kant.be
