START Whaletail Green Dender WALK 9.5 KM

Another eye-catcher is certainly the giant whale tail, made by artists Staf Vinck, Martin Claessens and Dirk Van den Nest. Dendermonde has the story of the whale within its history, which is also anchored in our Ros Beiaardommegang and Katuit. The production of a work of art that gives a reference to this was therefore a logical choice. The artists worked with waste that is produced in our own city. The whale is made entirely of recycled materials, the metal structure consists of recovered steel, the upholstery consists of PET bottles. In addition, the artists also aimed to highlight the waste problem in our society. In this work of art, the whale goes into hiding, looking for a gap between the Gedempte Dender and the Scheldt.

MURALS VIEUWMASTERS 2018 -2021

The success of ViewMasters2018 continues to reverberate. Street art colours the city, gives meaning, shapes the public space and inspires a lively discussion during a city walk. Various leisure services and KASK are joining forces again for this 2nd edition. This time, the interventions will be implanted in the municipality of Sint-Gillis, where they will be concentrated in the core area between Serbos and Kroondveldlaan. In this way they form the connection between the already iconic street art work of David Walker (Boonwijk) and that of Christoph Malfliet (Kroonveldlaan).

VIEUWMASTERS 2021

Smok (Bart Boudewijns, Antwerp, 1972) is a renowned street artist SMOK who uses various techniques and in a realistic style to create murals. The themes in his work are connected to nature, have a social slant or are a personal choice.  Boonwijkstraat 50

Kitsune Jolene (Jolien Dewaele, Dendermonde, 1992) is an autodidact. Her recognizable style has a saturated use of color. For the themes in her work, she is inspired by Japanese mythology and folklore.  Rue Van Langenhove 67

Lindert Steegen (Bilzen, 1997) has built up an oeuvre that ranges from paintings and murals to sculptures and installations. Through his own visual language and a specific use of colour, he knows how to create a highly personal world.  Bareelstraat 31

Location to be determined

Kymo One (Roeselare, 1995) shows work with an interest in (old) traditions, religions, symbolism and more specifically, the sculptures and works of art that resulted from this. Well-known examples from art history are chosen with the aim of exorcising their power.

Dzia's work is colourful and playful. His strongly graphic style shows a complex interplay of lines. The lines merge into recognizable animals.
