Welcome to Deurne

Deurne is one of the greenest districts in the city. The provincial domain Rivierenhof is located in the middle of it. Deurne originated just north of it, where the Turnhoutsebaan and the Groot Schijn intersect. The old Deurne first grew in a northerly direction, towards the Kempische Vaart (1846). This canal was merged into the Albert Canal in the 1930s. Between the canal and the old village center, neighborhoods were built that now characterize the character of Deurne-Noord as gray and stony, but that image is not correct. In Deurne-Noord there are large green areas, such as the Bremweide and Ertbrugge. You can explore this with the hiking brochure 'Glacis van Ertbrugge'.
