A walk from the site Original Walks on the border with France along paths over fields and meadows, paths formerly used by smugglers. On the border with France separated by the Yser you can see hunters hunting geese on the French side, forbidden in Belgium. Don't be fooled by the fake geese used as lure. The Yser Valley, and in particular the river Ijzer, was the battleground of the Belgian army for 4 years during the First World War. Parking along the side at the church, Sint-Brigidaplein, van Beveren-aan-de-Ijzer (attention to GPS sometimes Beveren / Alveringem). You can print the route description / walking brochure on the site of Original Walks. After 6 km you can walk on French soil, without this part the walk is 15 km.
