Castle route around the center of Flanders

This node hike starts at the Dries in Opdorp where there is plenty of parking available. After walking for a good 2 kilometers through the quiet streets of Opdorp, you enter the field towards the center of Malderen. Once you pass the village center, the route goes left and you walk along the cemetery towards the Groenhof castle. Here you turn left again. After crossing Lippelostraat, the walk continues through the beautiful Lippelobos. At Kasteeldreef, you turn left and follow the road for a bit. After 500 meters, you turn left again and arrive at Hof te Melis castle. You are now walking through a stately forest avenue. On the left, you can read the poem "Van de oude boom" by Guido Gezelle. On the right, you can take a break at the cozy café "De Wandeling". At the end of the avenue, the route turns left, back into the forest. It can be a bit muddy here. After you exit the forest, you turn left at an open space. On your way to node 92, you can already see the flags waving in the distance at the monument that marks the center of Flanders. Here, you turn right, back to the center of Opdorp, where you can also find the last castle of this route.
