De Buylaers is a unique piece of nature within the built-up core of Lokeren, just a ten-minute walk from the actual city center! This nature reserve of 20 ha is located on the left bank of the Durme, opposite the municipal swimming pool and Sportlaan. The meadows along the Durme have largely retained their historic appearance with little vegetation in the plain, beautiful moist hay meadows and a number of reed fields. The spontaneously wild Verloren Bos with its drifting dune relics also borders this nature reserve.
