The Liereman landscape in the Kempen (between Oud-Turnhout and Arendonk) is one of the oldest nature reserves in Belgium. The forests, heath, grasslands, drifting dunes, and ponds make it a unique nature area in Europe. The Kempen biotopes have been home to the curlew, the nightjar, the gentian, and the stripe-backed toad for centuries. During your walk between cork-dry land dunes and soggy peat bogs, you will also encounter sheep and wild konik horses.
