Castle Park and Malakoff Tower in Lembeek

Zennevallei - Flemish Brabant - Today we start our recreational walk in the park of Lembeek Castle, near the city of Halle. We leave the beautiful playground in the park of the castle before the end of the walk, as a reward for the 5 km we have drawn.

We first take some nice places like the bat cave and a little further a climbing cave, to walk by unpaved paths to the footbridge over the Senne and the Brussels-Charleroi canal.

Once we have crossed this river and canal, we arrive at the edge of the Malakoff estate. A medieval replica of a watchtower or Malakoff tower offers you a beautiful view of this beautiful valley of the Senne. You can choose to shorten the walk by following the fish ponds towards the footbridge... We opt for a climb of 35 altimeters and walk towards the Botermelkstraat.

The Botermelkstraat is today a real nature reserve in the form of a hollow road, where you can reach the top of the hill via a bat path with stairs. Again, beautiful trails with beautiful views lead us to the last nature reserve on our way - 'Berendries'. This marshy area with meadows (and sometimes Galloway cows) takes us back to the Malheideweg Bridge, which we cross to the castle park.
