The Basel Minster (German: Basler Münster) is the main church in the Swiss city of Basel. The church was built from 1019 to 1500 in Romanesque and Gothic style and is located on the Münsterplatz. Originally, it was a bishop's church; since the Reformation, the church has been in Protestant hands. Inside the minster — the term refers to the stature of the church, not to a function as a monastery church — lies the grave of Erasmus.
