Path of the Poets of the Three Countries

Linked by the trinationale greenway, Huningue, Weil am Rhein, and Basel are also connected by a poets' path that highlights their common language: Alemannic. This route, dotted with 24 panels on either side of the Rhine, invites discovery of authors from Alsace, Germany, and Switzerland.

Since the beginning of the Middle Ages, Alemannic has been a shared linguistic foundation between Alsace, southern Baden, and the Basel region. The idea of this cross-border path was born almost simultaneously among dialect enthusiasts in the three countries. Its purpose is to enhance and celebrate the richness of this language.

The itinerary follows the banks of the Rhine and leads to the heart of Basel, before crossing the Dreirosenbrücke and continuing north through the neighborhoods of Klybeck and Kleinhüningen.

In Klybeck, the route offers two options: to follow the riverbank, closest to the old industrial wastelands and the revitalizing docks, or to take more residential streets, within an environment enlivened by local life. Further north, Kleinhüningen, an old fishing village, offers a comparable atmosphere, also mixing proximity to the Rhine with a lively neighborhood.

Finally, the route extends into Germany to Rheinpark, a vast green space ideal for relaxation by the water.
