Enjoy this scenic panorama route to two mountain peaks above the Grimentz valley
Summary:
- T2 mountain hike with small part T3/4 challenging mountain hike to the Becs de Bosson.
- 22km and 1500m climbing
- Duration: 6 hours
This hike starts at the Bendolla ski lift station above Grimentz in the Val d'Anniviers valley. In summer the lifts go up each hour, it's good to check the correct timetables, also for the return back! Last descend is normally around 17h.
To get to the first peak of the day, the Roc d'Orzival with an altitude of 2852m, we'll go straight ahead from the Bendolla station, a sign pole marks the way. Do not take the big road to the right, thats for tourists... Below 2300m the path splits in two, no sign pole here but you'll go to the right towards a ski station called Le Marais. Once under the cables of the ski station, the path will split up again, we'll head to the smallest straight ahead route which is not on Open Street Maps but it's on the Swiss hiking map. This neat little path will join the high trail towards the Roc d'Orzival, just a small climb left to get to the peak itself where a tremendous 360° view awaits over the rhone valley, the Val d'Anniviers and the high Alpine peaks.
Next up is to the Col Des Becs de Bosson, for this we follow the high trail from Roc d'orzival in the direction of the Becs de Bosson. Keep following the high trail up to the Col.
Now comes the most tricky part of the hike, getting to the top of Becs de Bosson. Although it's classified as a T4 Alpine trail, it's still marked white-red-white and for me personally I thought it was more a T3 Challenging mountain trail. Two sections of rope climbing awaits and if you don't like that, then leave the peak for what it is. If you're up for it grab the rope and climb on!
At the foot of the summit we have two peaks also called teeth or Becs in French. The most eastern one is the easiest and is marked with stone men and goes through a hole in the rock (yes you read that correctly) , then descent a bit to the foot of the tooth and climb back up to reach the summit.
Next we head back to the col and descent to the Cabane Becs des Bosson for a pint before we get back to the Bendolla station. Along Pas de Lona you'll descent back to the Bendolla ski station
