El Morro is a nice attraction in Arica. The 139 meter high rock is visible from almost any point in the city.
On June 7, 1880 the rock - a strategically very interesting site - played an important role during the battle between Chileans and Peruvians.
Today there are two ways to reach the top of the rock: using the Sotomayor St. (calle Sotomayor) for vehicles or using a trail that starts at the end of Colon Street (calle Colón) for pedestrians.
At the top there is a (war) museum and a large Chilean flag.
