Description

Zollern II Coal Mine II/IV in Dortmund was a monumental prestige object dating back to the end of the 19th century.
The main entrance to the machine building, from which the lifts
hoisted up and down is executed in Art Nouveau.

Zollern Zeche was decommissioned in 1969. This complex was also scheduled to be demolished. But thanks to local archers and architects who saw more in it than just old junk, it was saved from demolition at the very last minute. Due to the special Art Nouveau architecture of the buildings, the mine was given the name 'Burcht
of Labour'.
