This suburb of Berlin was made famous in 1906 by an unemployed shoemaker Wilhelm Voig. He put on a captain's coat and cap and ordered a group of soldiers to follow him to the town hall. At the town hall he asked for the municipal treasury with 4000 marks and he got it. He was later arrested, but Kaiser Wilhelm of Germany pardoned him because he became a kind of German Robin Hood.
