Aschau im Chiemgau is a municipality in the upper Bavarian district of Rosenheim with the two main districts Aschau and Sachrang. The tourist town is dominated by the 1,669-meter-high Kampenwand and the Hohenaschau Castle from the 12th century, which overlooks the Priental valley.
The municipality is located about 23 km southeast of Rosenheim, twelve kilometers south of Prien am Chiemsee, 32 km southwest of Traunstein, and 28 km north of Kufstein, with the border to Austria being only 13 kilometers from the center of the village. Aschau is the terminus of the Chiemgaubahn from Prien am Chiemsee, and in the district of Hohenaschau, there is the valley station of the Kampenwandbahn.
