Bad Salzschlirf is a municipality with a spa in the eastern Hessian district of Fulda. Typical local healing methods include mineral baths, brine baths, peat baths, and peat wraps. Until about 1985, the spa peat was sourced from the Red Moor in the Rhön.
Bad Salzschlirf is located in the Fulda Basin at an altitude of 250 to 495 meters on the northeastern edge of the Vogelsberg in the valley of the Schlitz, which is formed there by the confluence of Lauter and Altefeld.
