Ermershausen is a municipality in the German state of Bavaria and is part of the Haßberge district. Ermershausen has 589 inhabitants.
Ermershausen is one of the smallest municipalities in Bavaria. During the administrative reorganization in the state in the 1970s, the village therefore lost its municipal independence and was incorporated into the municipality of Maroldsweisach in 1978. However, the residents strongly opposed this incorporation and attempted to prevent the municipal administration from being moved away by blocking the town hall in May of that year. Some residents preferred to join Thuringia rather than Maroldsweisach. The village is located near the border with Thuringia, which at that time still belonged to East Germany. Ultimately, multiple ME (mobile units) were sent to the village to break the residents' resistance.
