Rosenberg is located between Ellwangen in the southeast and Schwäbisch Hall in the northwest in the transition area of the Ellwanger Mountains and Virngrund, both of which belong to the natural region of Schwäbisch-Fränkische Waldberge.
The highest elevation of the municipality of Rosenberg is the Hohenberg, over which a section of the Franconian-Swabian Jacob's Way passes. The lowest point is just below 430 m above sea level below the Orrotsee in the valley of the Orrot near the eastern tip of the municipal area. At its southwestern border in the valley of the middle Blinden Rot northeast of Bühlerzell-Röhmen, the bed of this river has also carved itself almost as deep.
