Wetschen is a municipality in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is part of the Samtgemeinde Rehden in the district of Diepholz. It has 1,847 inhabitants. The municipality includes the hamlets of Wetscherhardt and Spreckel. They are few important farming villages, which were expanded after 1970 with some new construction for commuters working in Diepholz. The 18th century in particular was disastrous for Wetschen; The village was ravaged several times by large fires and deadly epidemics.
