Wiemersdorf is located about five kilometers north of Bad Bramstedt in a rural area along the state road 319. To the south runs the federal road 206 from Bad Bramstedt to Itzehoe, and to the east the federal highway 7 from Hamburg to Flensburg.
The first signs of settlement are about 2500 years old, during this time iron ore was mined. Wiemersdorf was first mentioned in a document in 1141 as Wimeresthorpe. Around 1800, about 290 people lived here. The inhabitants largely relied on agriculture until a few decades ago; in the 19th century, Wiemersdorf was also an important location for the production of bricks, which are also represented in the coat of arms.
