Schwanheim

Schwanheim is a local community in the district of Südwestpfalz in Rhineland-Palatinate. It is part of the municipal association of Hauenstein, within which it is the third smallest local community in terms of population.

Schwanheim is located in the Wasgau, which is also the name given to the southern part of the Palatinate Forest and the adjoining northern part of the Vosges, at an altitude of 180 m above sea level and is part of the Dahner Felsenland, which belongs to the Dahn-Annweiler Rock Land. Geologically, this area is part of the Trifels and Rehberg strata with the layers of the middle Buntsandstein. 71.8% of the district area is forested. Neighboring communities are – in a clockwise direction – Spirkelbach, Lug, Gossersweiler-Stein, Dimbach, Darstein, Oberschlettenbach, Busenberg, Erfweiler, and Hauenstein.
